The Blind Blogger Wins first international blogging award

Hello again;

I have some incredibly exciting news to share with you today.

Feed Spot has named me one of the Top 25 Visually Impaired Blogs and Websites To Follow in 2020″>

I came in at number 11 on this list of influential bloggers from around the world.

This is an amazing honor. One which I had no idea I was even up for.

So, the first thing I did was ask how they found out about me. I then asked them if they would explain how they selected the bloggers on the list.

Here is what they told me.

The Feed spot editorial team extensively searched on Google and social media websites to find the best Visually Impaired Blogs and ranked them based on several factors such as.

  1. Blog content quality
  2. Post consistency
  3. Age of the blog
  4. The average number of shares on social sites
  5. The traffic of your blog and more

They didn’t post all of the stats they accumulated, but they did post each site’s blog post frequency.

I was surprised to find that I have only averaged two posts per month.

This post reminded me that I need to be even more consistent. I need to create more quality content and do so on a regular basis.

I am blessed to be featured along side major nonprofit organizations like.

Vision Aware,

and The Light House for the Blind of San Francisco.

As well as being mentioned along with many talented individuals like.

Holly at Life of a Blind Girl,

Ellen at My Blurred World,

Glen at Well Eye Never.

Plus Hannah Thompson,

and Chloe Tear,

Who blog under their actual names.

Some people who don’t know me are probably asking themselves why is he mentioning all these other people and blogs.

Some probably figure I’m doing it to pump up my ego and show just how great I am.

Those would be people who don’t know me very well. 🙂

My true friends know that I’m very humble. They know that I have to fight against my nature to write a post like this.

My more professional bloggers and speakers would say he’s doing this to provide social proof.

But again my friends know I just don’t think that way.

The real reason I’m mentioning these other people is gratitude.

I know that wherever I am today it’s because of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and resilience.

It’s also because of amazing people who helped and encouraged me along the way.

You are probably part of the group of people who have told me that people are noticing.

In fact I have several friends who have had the pleasure of telling me I told you so. And not for the first time.

Beyond gratitude I know that for every person on this list there are so many more who work just as hard, have even more talent, and are more consistent who aren’t being recognized.

People who could benefit greatly by your reaching out and telling them hey I noticed you. I loved your latest post. And I can’t wait to read your next one.

Here are a few, who didn’t make the list, that I can suggest who happen to be visually impaired.

Blind author, speaker, and traveler Amy Bovaird, Blind advocate and beauty expert Steph McCoy,
And Blind author of poetry, short stories, and advocacy pieces Kerry Kijewski.

Kerry and her brother also have a great podcast called outlook.

Which reminds me how about checking out a couple great podcasts produced by people who are visually impaired.

Such as expert on all things tech Michael Babcock,

And a man who works hard to help the sighted understand us as individuals David Goldstein.

I’m truly thankful for this award. I know I deserve it and there will be more such awards in my future.

As long as I continue to seek out new opportunities for adventure and as long as i continue to share them with you openly and honestly.

Which I hope you know you can always expect from me.

And as long as you continue to support, encourage, and yes even inspire me to keep going.

To borrow from my friend Adrienne Smith, who I cal my blogging Mama, I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and eventually everything else will come true.

She also says I have to believe it’s already happened.

Which is interesting. In the Bible it says faith is belief in those things not yet seen.

Adrienne and so many others saw this and more in me.

Thanks to the folks at Feed Spot,

for this awesome award. Please help me thank them by spreading the word about this post.

Please visit the other winners, read their posts, share their content on social media, and leave comments.

Until next time thanks and take care out there, Max
