Emily Trepanier With Justin Evanjelho On The Disenabled Podcast

Hello again, I hope your week is getting off to a good start.

I am hoping that this post is the beginning of a much more productive period for me.

Thanks to a new doc, a talented physical therapist, and some new exercises the knee is feeling much better.

As the pain has decreased my energy levels have increased and I am even feeling more positive about the future.

From the Summit Posts

Some of you are familiar with my “Live On The Inside” posts where I share past interviews I have recorded with other podcast hosts.

Well, I have also had Emily doing podcast interviews. And with each new appearance we are working on similar posts under the title “From The Summit” as a take off of the fact that Emily is a blind downhill snowboard racer.

For accuracy sake, you should know I didn’t book this interview for her. I do know Justin, and his podcast is part of the WYE Podcast Network, but I did not introduce him and Emily.

Never-the-less, they recorded an awesome series of conversations for his show called Disenabled.

You can listen to any or all of it below.

While listening, you can also subscribe to Justin’s podcast or leave him a rating and review.

You can also find Emily’s personal website, podcast website, social media links, and contact email at the bottom of this post.

I highly recommend checking out the Team Starfish page as that is where you can currently check out and buy her merchandise and support her goal of Racing down hills on her board for Team Canada.

Emily Trepanier and Justin Evangelho on the Disenabled Podcast

This interview took place over three episodes, and this is part one.

Part 1

From Justin

In this episode I chat with blind competitive snowboarder, and prospective Paralympian, Emily Trepanier about where her love for the sport began, her experience returning to the slopes after 18 months, and how she went from taking up snowboarding as a recreational sport, to possibly gracing the Paralympic podium with a gold medal draped around her neck.

Part 2

From Justin

In this second part of my interview with Canadian blind Snowboarder, Emily Trepanier, we chat about how the pandemic has impacted her ability to hit the slopes.

She shares about how she kept busy with more intensive indoor training and the results of reaching out to a local training center.

We talked about how snowboarding can be a physically unforgiving sport.
And Emily shared about some of the physical, mental, emotional, and monetary costs of pursuing the goal of competing in the Paralympics.

You can feel the range of emotions in her voice. Especially when she talked about returning to the snow.

We talked about her decision to relocate from Ontario to Vancouver to better chase her dreams.

She demonstrates a wealth of problem solving to continue moving forward to that dream of holding that Paralympic Gold Medal in her hands.

Part 3

From Justin:

In this final part of my conversation with blind snowboarder, Emily Trepanier.

We discuss topics such as nutrition, athletic recovery, podcasting, and the origin story of how Emily garnered the nickname, Starfish.

Drop Justin a line to talk all things Disenabled and disability at: thedisenabledpodcast@gmail.com

I really appreciate Emily’s friendship, and I am blown away by the goal she has set herself of winning Paralympic Gold Medals in downhill snowboarding.

I really appreciate Justin’s friendship, and I admire the work he is doing through his podcast of showing the world that people with disabilities are capable of so much more than even we expect of ourselves.

And I want to give you the opportunity to discover them, get to know them, and hopefully add them to your own online families.

And as a promoter I know the best way to say thank you is to help drive traffic. So please share so we can more faces behind the screens.

A new episode of Shredding For Gold and a new one of What’s Your Excuse are both coming very soon.

Thanks for continuing to support me by taking the time to read my posts, listen to my podcast interviews, and check out my friend’s work.

Until next time take care out there, Max
