Well, I know its been a while since my last post. It was caused by a nasty bout of the shingles. I won’t go into details about that now. Just know that all I’ve done for the last few weeks is eat, sleep, and take medicine. 🙁 But today I’m going to get back going again with some exciting news about my second book Its Not the Cookie Its the Bag.
As you know I have completed the writing for my second book and sent it off to my friend and editor Lorraine Reguly
The editing has progressed to the point now where we have to start thinking about promotion. And one of the most important parts of promoting a book is choosing the cover art.
With the thousands if not millions of choices on Amazon its critical that your cover stand out. It has to grab their attention while they are browsing their favorite genre or sifting through results from a search.
As a blind computer user designing an image is one of the most difficult tasks I have to perform. From trying to come up with a concept to communicating my ideas, to evaluating the suggested options; I am at a disadvantage. However, you can overcome this by asking people you trust to help you select the perfect art work for your book, album, t-shirt, etc.
With my first book Leading You Out of the Darkness Into the Light Your help and encouragement with choosing the cover was invaluable. And since it worked so well then, I’d be crazy not to do it again this time. 🙂
So, Lorraine and her colleague Brenda have come up with a couple images to get us started. They began with the book’s title. Then they considered what they read in the manuscript. And then they tried to come up with something compelling.
Then one of Lorraine’s friends (I won’t say who) created a cover using a Shutterstock image. It’s found below the two covers Brenda made. And Lorraine updated this post with it. So now you have three to chose from. Just ignore the Shutterstock overlay and note that the tagline will be bigger in the final version.
What Do You Think?
These are two options for your consideration. They are a beginning. Lorraine has described them to me, and I think they sound pretty good. However, I remember that with the first book your comments resulted in an even better end result.
So over to you. I am depending upon you to help me pick a book cover that will put me and my words on the Amazon best seller list, so don’t hold any of those good ideas back. If you think the images should be switched, colors should be changed, size should be altered, background should be different, etc; then please let me know. And don’t worry about my not understanding your terminology as all comments will be seen by Lorraine and her team.
I have put a lot of myself into this next book. I truly want to help others live a healthier life.
But in order for people to be helped they have to buy the book. They can’t buy it unless they want it, and they can’t want it if they never see it.
I believe that with your help we can design a cover that will capture the imagination and drive sales to my author’s page. I’m looking forward to your comments. I’m also looking forward to this next adventure of launching my second book.
I’ll be back to report on my progress. I will also be contacting some of you directly to discuss reviewing the book or having me on your podcast to start spreading the word about Its Not the Cookie Its the Bag.
Thanks so much for your help. Without your continued love and support I couldn’t keep doing what I do. I also appreciate and depend on your sharing my posts with your friends, family, and social media networks. Together we can accomplish great things.
Thanks again and take care out there, Max
